How do i turn two sphere images into a cylindrical map?

Hello, i'm making scintella from warhammer 40k dark herecy. I'm woundering how i can turn these two spheres into a cylindrial map?
I'm using photoshop, and i can't seem to find out how to do it. I'd be really happy if i could get help here

Two software packages that I know about which can do the reprojection are
MMPS http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~arcus/mmps/mmps.html

that above image would be hard
it looks like it IS in simplecylindrical BUT is masked to look like two disks

you can see that in the horizontal stretching at the poles

you would have to inpaint the missing data from the area that was masked off

using gimp's polar remap tool would be the first place to start
then Gimp's "resysnthisizer" inpainting tool

but for a linux build it is very strait forward
build gimp on your system ( or install the gimp & gimp-devel, or -dev package)

I downloaded the "Resynthesizer win64 + Heal selection + Pattern fill" and installed it, and got this little bastard:

Before that, the resynthesizer plug-in was working perfectly.

Ahhhhahahahahahaha!

I checked the dates on my existing resynthesizer install, and realized it was an outdated version from 2005.

So, I got the latest version and installed and it works now.
