Where do I find the absolute precise RA/Dec of a star?

Postby PlutonianEmpire » Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:54 pm

I'm planning on converting a distant star into a barycenter to make it a binary, but the star is only declared in the stars.dat file, and not anywhere else in any .stc file.

How and where do I find the most absolute precise Right Ascension and Declination available for a star?

Rounding up or down numbers is a HUUUUUUUUGE pet peeve of mine, so I prefer to find the best numbers that we know of for a particular astronomical object.

The easiest database to use is the one provided by Simbad.
